Studies on Environmental Pollution in Seoul and Incheon city

Abstract
This study was made on Air pollution in Seoul city from June 1st, And in Incheon city From June 1st to the end of 1974.
Seoul city was divided into 5 areas in the same way of the past years; i.e., the industrial area, the Coammerical area, the down town area, the Residential area, and the park.
Nine Sampling sites were Selected from each area. Incheon city was divided into 4 Areas in the Same way of the past years; i.e., the industrial area, the Commerical area, the down town area, and the Residential Area.
Seven Sampling sites were Selected form Incheon, at the Same time, three kinds of lead dioxide made in Japan(B, C and D) were compared with standrad PbO_(2) (A; for use in Determination of Sulfur in the atomsphere, made in British standard Institution, Purity 99% up), and monthly measuring was conducted at every Sampling site.
and Some Significant Results were obtained.
Results
A. Seoul city
1. The total mean Value of Sulfur oxides was 1.58 §·SO_(3)/day/100§²PbO_(2) (Range 0.31~2.57) and it showed a tendency to decreasing Since 1971. The means by area were 2.06 in commerical, 1.93 in industrial, 1.62 in Downtown, 1.57 in Residential and 0.71 in park. The highest concentration by Sampling Site was 2.47 in Sang Sudong and the next was 2.22 in Dang San dong.
2. The mean Value of sulfur dioxide was 0.04ppm and the temporary maximum concentration 0.08 in Sang Su dong. Generally, the concentrations of Sulfur dioxide by wilkins convertion method from SO_(3) Showed about 30% higher than those by autonalyzer.
3. The total amount of dustfalls was 26.16 tonaaaaaaaaaa, Ranging from 18.03~34.85.
4. The mean Concentration of Carbon monoxide was 6.92ppm (Range 0.1~2.93) and outstandingly the higher concentration was shown in down town (11.5) And commerical area (10ppm) than the others.
5. The mean concentraion pf NO+NO_(2) was 0.134ppm and that of No_(2) was 0.027 ppm.
6. The mean Value of Noise level was 66.8dB, ranging from 42~88dB and a tendency to decreasingi was shown since 1970.
B. Inchoeon
1. The total mean Value of Sulfur oxides was 1.38 §·SO_(3)/day/100§²PbO_(2) (Range 0.34~3.24) and it showed a tendency to decreasing Since 1972. The means by area were 2.31 in Industrial, 1.22 in down town, 1.17 Commerical and 0.82 in Park Area. The highest concentration by Sampling Site was 2.36 in Hag Kig Dong and the Next was 2.26 in Song Hyun dong.
2. The mean Value of sulfur dioxide was 0.041ppm and the temporary maximum Concentration was 0.9 in Song Hyun dong.
3. The total amount of Dustfalls was 24.45 ton/§´/month, ranging from 19.12~49.03. And an obviously higher concentration was shown in Industrial Area than Other Areas.
4. The mean Concentration of carbon Monoxide was 7.0ppm (Range 0.8~20.9) and Outstandingly the higher Concentration was shown in Industrial (9.05) and down town are (8.3) than the Others.
5. The mean Concentraion of NO+NO_(2) was 0.088ppm and that of No_(2) was 0.013 ppm.
6. The mean Value of Noise level was 66.5dB, ranging from 49~85dB.
